Banned Keywords allow you to block specific words and phrases from being used in AI-generated messages, message templates, and the chat input field. This helps maintain safe, compliant conversations and prevents unwanted content.

Where Banned Keywords Apply

Banned keywords are enforced across three areas:

  • AI Chatter: The AI will never use banned keywords in its responses

  • Message Templates: Blocked words cannot be included in saved templates

  • Chat Input: Manual messages in the chatter interface are checked against banned keywords

Accessing Banned Keywords

Navigate to Chatter AI β†’ Settings β†’ Banned Keywords to view and manage your keyword lists.

Types of Banned Keywords

System Banned Keywords

These are predefined keywords that come built-in with Substy. They cannot be modified or deleted and provide a baseline level of content protection.

πŸ“Š Note: The system includes 1,346 pre-defined keywords covering common prohibited terms. You can browse these using the pagination controls.

System keywords include variations of harmful terms such as:

  • Violent or abusive language

  • Illegal activities

  • Platform-prohibited terms

  • And more...

Custom Banned Keywords

Your own list of banned words that can be added, modified, or deleted at any time. Use custom keywords to block:

  • Competitor names or platforms

Searching Keywords

Use the search bar at the top of the page to quickly find specific keywords in both your custom list and the system keywords. This is helpful when you want to:

  • Check if a word is already banned

  • Find variations of a term

  • Verify system coverage for specific topics

πŸ’‘ Tips for Effective Keyword Management

  • Include variations: Add different forms of words (e.g., "meet", "meeting", "meets") for comprehensive blocking

  • Be specific: Avoid overly common words that might block legitimate conversations

  • Review regularly: Update your custom list based on new trends or issues you encounter

  • Check system keywords first: Before adding custom keywords, search the system list β€” it may already be covered
