Push notifications are browser-level alerts that appear on your desktop or mobile device even when the Substy tab isn't active or visible. They work with all major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and the Substy PWA app.
Go to Settings > Notifications > Personal.
Click Enable Push Notifications.
Your browser will display a permission dialog — click Allow.
Once enabled, you'll see a confirmation that push notifications are active.
If you accidentally click "Block" in the browser dialog, you'll need to manually re-enable notifications in your browser's site settings.
Push notifications include a title describing the event, a short message with fan name and creator details, the Substy icon and badge. Clicking the notification opens Substy directly to the relevant page. Push notifications respect your personal event preferences.
For the best mobile experience, install the Substy PWA app: Open Substy in your mobile browser, tap Add to Home Screen (or the install prompt), and enable push notifications when prompted. The PWA app runs in standalone mode and delivers push notifications just like a native app.
Chrome (Desktop + Android), Firefox (Desktop + Android), Edge (Desktop + Mobile), Safari (macOS Ventura+ Desktop, iOS 16.4+ via PWA).
Each browser and device creates a separate push subscription. If you use Substy on multiple devices, enable push notifications on each device separately. You'll receive alerts on all enabled devices. To stop receiving on a specific device, disable notifications in that browser's settings or click Disable Push Notifications in Substy.
No permission dialog appearing? Your browser may have already blocked notifications for the site. Go to your browser's site settings and change the notification permission to "Allow".
Notifications not showing on mobile? Make sure you've installed the PWA app and granted notification permissions in your device settings.
Stopped receiving notifications? Browser push subscriptions can expire. Go to Settings > Notifications > Personal and re-enable push notifications.
